Advocating for Health Equity at SXSW 2024

The Latino Cancer Institute Joins City of Hope at cancer innovation panel.

On March 11th 4 pm CT, TLCI Founder Ysabel Duron will be joining Dr. Harlan Levine from City of Hope at SXSW 2024 to discuss “Cancer Innovation and Those Who Are Left Behind.”

Moderated by Los Angeles Times Columnist Erika Smith, the panel will spotlight persistent disparities in cancer care, especially for marginalized communities like Hispanic/Latinos facing language, cost and access issues.

“All the advanced cancer technology and treatment means little to most moderate- and low-income communities if they can’t get access, much less afford care,” stresses Ysabel Duron.

Join us at SXSW 2024 as we discuss ways to diminish the Latino cancer burden. For those unable to attend SXSW, stay tuned for recap coverage after the March 11th 4 pm CT panel.

The panel is a significant acknowledgment of their leadership in the cancer landscape. City of Hope and The Latino Cancer Institute have been voted in by participants out of over 6,000 entries to present at the prestigious SXSW event. This will mark TLCI’s second collaboration with City of Hope after a successful joint presentation at HLTH2023 in Las Vegas.
