Stanford-TLCI Breast Cancer Study Townhall

The Latino Cancer Institute invites community members to a virtual townhall on March 17, 2025, where we will share research findings on barriers to genomic and tumor testing for breast cancer among low-income Latina women.

Initial results, presented during our 2024 Friday Forum Series last October, revealed significant gaps in healthcare delivery that disproportionately affect marginalized communities:

75% of low-income, mostly Spanish speaking breast cancer patients surveyed, had never been offered a genomic test, which can lead to a more precise treatment plan.

Now, we’re bringing these critical findings directly to the public through an interactive townhall session facilitated by Dr. Manali Patel of Stanford School of Medicine and Ysabel Duron, founder of The Latino Cancer Institute.

This study is a collaborative project between Stanford University, The Latino Cancer Institute, and multiple community partners in Northern California, funded by the California Breast Cancer Research Program (CBCRP).

During the virtual event, we will first present the research findings, followed by a Q&A session with the research team. We’ll also offer Spanish interpretation throughout.
