Despite rising cancer rates among younger people in the United States, many say they were not informed about how treatment could affect their fertility and what options they had to preserve it.1 Latinos are less likely to receive fertility counseling compared to other groups; studies show that only 32% of patients are aware of how cancer treatments might affect their fertility—and even fewer receive counseling on preservation options.2
By sharing your experiences, you can help shape future guidelines and ensure that Latino patients receive the support they deserve.
The Latino Cancer Institute is sharing this research opportunity to help improve fertility preservation awareness for patients undergoing treatments that may impact fertility.
This study is conducted by Alejandra Bernal, a genetic counseling student from the University of Pittsburgh, and aims to shape future education and support for patients.
Who Can Participate?
If you are an adult who has received medical treatment in the U.S. for cancer, thalassemia, or sickle cell disease, your insights are invaluable to this study.
