Oct 3rd Forum To Explore Role of Machismo in Men’s Health and Cancer Risks

The Latino Cancer Institute (TLCI) invites you to a pivotal Friday Forum addressing the critical health challenges facing Latino men. This free, virtual event on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 9 am – Noon PST (Noon – 3 pm EST), brings together top experts to discuss cancer disparities, cultural barriers, technology, and environmental risks.

Keynote Focus: Breaking Down Cultural Barriers

The Forum will open with a crucial keynote addressing a core cultural factor impacting health access.

Keynote: “Breaking Down Machismo: What Happens When Old Scripts Meet New Realities”

Luis Arturo Valdez, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor at Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health, will explore how traditional gender roles influence men’s engagement with preventative care.

Following this, Lisa Goldman Rosas, PhD, MPH, from Stanford University School of Medicine, will present on “Vida Sana — Addressing the Triple Threat: Meeting Latino Men Where They Are.”
