Enrique Velazquez Villarreal, MD, PhD, MPH, MS, is a physician-scientist and computational geneticist at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center. His work focuses on cancer genomics, cancer disparities, precision medicine, and the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
His research centers on understanding the molecular mechanisms of colorectal cancer in Hispanic/Latino populations. Through computational approaches, his laboratory studies how genetic and biological factors influence cancer development and outcomes, with the goal of improving diagnosis and treatment for underrepresented communities.
Velazquez Villarreal serves as Co-Chair of the Health Equity Subcommittee for the Participant Engagement and Cancer Genome Sequencing (PE-CGS) Network within the NIH/NCI Cancer Moonshot Initiative. He is also a member of the AACR Cancer Disparities Research Grants Scientific Review Committee.
