Latino Voices in Health Care and Community—In Telemundo’s Spotlight

At The Latino Cancer Institute (TLCI), we often return to a simple but essential principle: nothing about us without us.

Mujeres Imparables, Telemundo -- El Poder en Ti

Ensuring that Latino communities have a voice—not only at the table, but in shaping the decisions that affect cancer prevention, care, and outcomes—has long guided our work.

Telemundo’s Mujeres Imparables series, which recently recognized TLCI founder Ysabel Duron, reflects that same spirit. By spotlighting Latina leaders across sectors, the series affirms the importance of representation, community-rooted leadership, and the collective power of women driving change.

While individual recognition is meaningful, it also points to something larger: the growing visibility of Latina leadership and the impact of sustained engagement in issues that affect our communities. In cancer care, that means elevating lived experience, strengthening connections between community and research, and ensuring that solutions are informed by those most affected.

As Telemundo continues to shine a light on Mujeres Imparables, we are reminded of what is possible when voices are amplified and supported. Progress is not achieved alone. It is built through collaboration, shared purpose, and a commitment to lifting one another.

This work continues beyond recognition. Through national convenings and partnerships, TLCI remains focused on elevating Latino voices in the conversations shaping cancer care, including upcoming engagements such as the CDI2 conference hosted by University of California Health taking place 4/14/26 – 04/15/26 at The Cove, UC Irvine.

We are grateful to Telemundo for helping bring attention to the leaders and causes moving our communities forward.
