Laura Fejerman, MS, PhD

Professor and Co-Director, Women's Cancer Research and Care Program

Davis, CA
University of California, Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center

Laura Fejerman, MS, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of California, Davis. She serves as Co-Director of the Women’s Cancer Research and Care Program and Assistant Director of Education, Training, and Career Development at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is also Co-Director of the Latinos United for Cancer Health Advancement (LUCHA) Initiative.

Fejerman’s research focuses on genetic and non-genetic factors that influence breast cancer risk and outcomes in Latinas. Her work has shown that genetic ancestry plays a role in breast cancer risk, with higher European ancestry associated with increased risk among U.S. and Mexican Latinas. She continues to study how genetic variation, environmental exposures, and lifestyle factors interact to shape cancer risk, with the goal of improving risk prediction and prevention strategies for Latino populations.

She earned her PhD in Biological Anthropology and MSc in Human Biology from the University of Oxford and completed her undergraduate studies in Social Anthropology at the University of Buenos Aires.
