The newly formed Think Tank on Advancing Gastric Cancer Prevention convened for an all-day event in Maryland with over 200 clinicians, researchers, and patient advocates attending both in-person and virtually. The National Cancer Institute (NCI)-hosted dialogue brought together an international, multidisciplinary group of experts to review the current state of gastric cancer prevention science and collaboratively identify critical knowledge gaps.

These efforts aim to accelerate progress against this disease, which has rapidly become a leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., disproportionately impacting Hispanic/Latino and Asian communities.
Missed the event? You can still watch 10-minute talks covering the latest clinical and epidemiological research on gastric cancer prevention.
With 10 groups discussing scientific areas to better serve at-risk populations, their findings will point the way to improving cancer outcomes for underserved communities.

The Latino Cancer Institute will get a briefing from Think Tank Co-Chair Dr. Maria Constanza Camargo, NCI, at our September 20th Friday Forum Series kickoff. We invite you to register now for our six-part series to explore various cancer-related topics impacting Latinos, from disparities in gastric, liver, and colorectal cancers to advances and challenges in breast, cervical, health tech, and AI!
