David O. Garcia, PhD, FACSM, is an Associate Professor at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona. His research focuses on reducing obesity-related health disparities among Mexican-origin adults.
Garcia leads intervention studies on physical activity, nutrition, and weight management, with both short- and long-term approaches. His work is among the first to develop culturally and gender-responsive weight loss interventions for Hispanic men, with a focus on preventing and managing fatty liver disease in Latino communities.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (FACSM).
