Cancer is a family affair!
It can devastate a patient but can also cause despair in a partner.
We need to hear from you if you are a female partner of a patient with prostate cancer.
About 1 man in 8 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime.
Black and Latino men face significant challenges including less than optimal care.
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed in Latino males…comprising 1 in 5 of all new cancer diagnoses, with 14,000 new diagnoses and 2,000 deaths annually.
Multiple factors including barriers to screening, awareness, language and cost all contribute to disparities.
Our colleagues conducting this study at NYU Langone Health also want to understand the experience of women of color (racial/ethnic women) whose voices are not often heard about this sensitive topic.
Please make the call. The more the scientists/researchers know, the better it helps community based agencies to provide support services for men, women and families around the challenges wrought by cancer.
